MCAC Players-of-the-Week in Men's Basketball Named

As the men's basketball regular season winds down in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, a pair of student-athletes put together strong performances for their teams for the week ending on February 7.  For their efforts Raymond White (Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College) and Tyree Caruthers (Rochester Community & Technical College) have been named Northern Division and Southern Division Players-of-the-Week in the MCAC.

Raymond White produced a pair of strong outings for FDLTCC and has been tabbed Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending February 7. 

White had a double-double against Vermilion Community College on Saturday, pulling in ten rebounds, while adding a block and an assist in a 96-78 loss. He was 2-of-5 from three point range for FDL and scored 14 points.   In an important 92-82 win over Hibbing Community College, White led all scorers with 29 points and had 12 rebounds on the day, tops for either team. White dished out three assists to FDLTCC teammates and was perfect from the foul line, going five-of-five for the Thunder. 

With the win over HCC, Fond du Lac moves to 3-7 in the Division.  They will face Gogebic Community College in non-conference action on Wednesday and will host Northland CTC on Saturday.  





Tyree Caruthers



     Rochester Community & Technical College           

Tyree Caruthers a sophomore forward at Rochester Community & Technical College has earned Southern Division Player-of-the-Week honors for the week ending February 7 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.  Caruthers put together a pair of strong outings in important RCTC wins over Western Technical College and Ridgewater Community College. 

Against Ridgewater, Caruthers hit for 17 points on a 6-of-12 shooting performance from the field and was an impressive 4-of-6 from three point land.  He tallied a game-high 18 rebounds, while adding a pair of assists and two steals.  He also blocked two Warrior shots on the day, a 78-61 Rochester win. 

In the RCTC-WTC contest, Caruthers had 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.  Chipping in a pair of assists and two steals, Caruthers and RCTC pulled away for an 82-56 victory over the Cavaliers.  

With the pair of wins, RCTC moves into sole possession of second place in the Southern Division at 8-2.  They face Riverland and M State, Fergus-Falls in upcoming action this week.
