Volleyball in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference is traditionally well-represented at the national level, and the most recent NJCAA poll points to the fact that 2017 is shaping up to be a similar year.
Six MCAC schools are mentioned in the poll released today by the National Junior College Athletic Association, including a surging St. Cloud Technical and Community College squad which broke into the top 10 at #9. In front of Coach Heidi Smith's Cyclones are #3 Ridgewater College and #5 Central Lakes College, both of whom slid back one spot from their preseason placement.
Half of the six squads in the 'Receiving Votes' category hail from the MCAC- Northern Division foes, Mesabi Range College and Northland CTC gain the nod from the polling committee, as did Southern Division team, M State.
With several key MCAC Divisional matches occuring over the next 10 days, teams will need to bring their 'A' game to hang on to their national spotlight recognition. Tonight, Wednesday, 9/6, features: Western Technical @ Minnesota West; Riverland CC @ RCTC; #3 Ridgewater @ (rv) M State; Fond du lac @ Rainy River; Itasca @ Hibbing and #9 SCTCC @ Anoka Ramsey. All matches are listed as a 6:30pm start time, unless otherwise noted.
