Riverland Adds to Coaching Staff

Riverland Community College recently announced the hiring of new coaches for their volleyball and women's basketball programs. 

The Blue Devil volleyball program will be led by new head coach Ashley Lau and assistant coach Jaime Meyer.   

Lau's coaching experience includes service as an assistant Volleyball Coach at Riverland in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons.  She also served as the Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV mentor at West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Virginia between 2015-2017.   As a student-athlete, Lau competed for Glenville-Emmons High School where she set the record for digs in her four year career.  Lau then went on to play at Riverland Community College in the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Volleyball assistant coach Jaime Meyer also brings a strong local connection to the Blue Devils in her coaching background.  Meyer coached in the Varsity and JV programs at Albert Lea High School between 2007-2011; her tenure at ALHS included working with track athletes in the hurdles and jump events as well.  An Austin High School alum, Meyer also played at Riverland as a student-athlete in volleyball.

In addition, Andrew Kaiser  has been tabbed as the new Head Women's Basketball Coach at Riverland.  Kaiser competed for RCC in men's basketball between 2011-2014.  Coach Kaiser's coaching career began in 2016-2017 as an assistant with the Blue Devil men's basketball program where he was instrumental in helping guide the Riverland squad to a combined 41-17 record during his time on the bench.  His responsibilities with the men's team included recruiting student-athletes, scouting opponents, setting defensive strategy, and the individual development of post players.
