The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports weekly awards for the week of January 9 - 15.
Northland Community & Technical College forward, Kasey Stegman, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. Stegman put together a double-double in her lone game of the week, a 25-point win over Minnesota North College Itasca. Stegman had 22 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes of action. Anthony Burch, point guard for Central Lakes College, earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. The sophomore shot 54.5% from the field and 40% from 3-point range on his way to scoring 36 points in his team's two wins. Burch also had 17 assists, grabbed 10 rebounds, and had 4 steals during the week.
Western Technical College point guard, Bri Bahr, has been named the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. Bahr had two double-doubles in the Cavaliers' two wins, scoring 51 points and grabbing 21 rebounds. She added 7 steals and 7 assists as well. Albert Tinnel, Anoka-Ramsey Community College forward, scored 38 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the Golden Rams' two convincing wins during the week. Shooting 65% from the field, Tinnel also added 4 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks to his stat line to earn the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award.
