MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week: Week of April 14-20

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of April 14-20.

Kaitlyn Geschwill, a right-handed pitcher for Central Lakes College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week award. Geschwill, last week's NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week, went 3-0 this week in four appearances. In 19 innings, she scattered only four earned runs and 10 hits, while striking out 27 batters and walking eight. Geschwill also hit .368, scoring seven runs and driving in seven. 

Jaylynne Verrier, outfielder for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Verrier had 14 hits in 20 at-bats, hitting .700 for the week. She doubled, had three triples, and belted two home runs. Verrier also drove in nine runs and scored 11, while walking twice and stealing four bases.         

Emma Shelton, a right-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award. In her two starts, both wins, Shelton gave up only three earned runs and four hits, while striking out seven and walking seven. She threw a no-hitter against Rochester in a five-inning 9-0 win. 

Hannah Kazemba, shortstop for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Kazemba had eight hits on 13 tries, hitting .615 for the week. She had two doubles, a triple, and a home run, along with two RBI and nine runs scored. Kazemba stole three bases and walked twice.
