MCAC Soccer Athletes of the Week: Week of August 25-31

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of August 25-31. 

Milla Van Der Velde, midfielder for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the Women's Soccer Offensive Field Athlete of the Week. Van Der Velde scored five goals on 10 shots on goal in her two games during the week. Scoring on 50% of her targeted shots, she helped lift the Yellowjackets to their first win on the season. There were no nominations for the other MCAC Women's Soccer weekly awards.

Minnesota West Community and Technical College goalkeeper, Leo Rumsby-Ferris, earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honor after saving 3 shots and only giving up two goals in 90 minutes of action in a win over Alexandria Technical and Community College. Maqui Sandoval, defender for Minnesota West, earned the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award by anchoring a back line that gave up only two goals in the team's first conference win. Carlos Castillo, forward for Minnesota West, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award, scoring two goals and assisting on another to help secure the win for the Bluejays.
