MCAC Winter Sports Athletes of the Week: Week of December 1 - 7

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of December 1-7.

Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range guard Gabby Lira earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 80 minutes of court time, Lira scored 30 points, averaging 15.0 points per game. She also had 15 rebounds, 13 assists, 11 blocked shots, and four steals. Lira was 8-10 from the free-throw line during the week, and she had a triple-double in the Norse win over Riverland.    

RJ Walker, guard for Minnesota North College - Hibbing, earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Walker scored 48 points on 48.7% shooting from the field in 74 minutes of action. He had six rebounds, one steal, two blocked shots, and 13 assists through the week. Walker averaged 24.0 points per game and shot 42.8% from behind the three-point arc.    

Minnesota West Community and Technical College guard Sadie Krahling earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Playing 53 minutes during the week, Krahling scored 44 points and grabbed nine rebounds in two wins. She also had six assists, three steals, and one block, while shooting 56% from the field and 83.3% from the free-throw line.  

Jack Boos, guard for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. In 67 minutes, Boos scored 55 points, shooting 56% from the field and 44% from three-point range. He grabbed 16 rebounds, two assists, and seven steals. Boos averaged 27.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, leading his team in both statistical categories.      

There were no nominations this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
