MCAC Winter Sports Athletes of the Week: Week of January 19-25

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of January 19-25.

Minnesota North College-Rainy River guard Marrissa Mills earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Mills put together a complete performance this week, tallying a triple-double in the Voyageurs' one game. Playing every minute of the game, Mills scored 10 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and had 10 assists for the triple-double, while also adding two steals to her stat line. This is Mills' first triple-double of her collegiate career.    

Central Lakes College guard Eli Tautges earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Tautges scored 28 points in 44 minutes of court time, going 12 for 24 from the field (50%) and shooting 31% (4-13) from the three-point arc. He had six rebounds, four assists, and five steals in the Raiders' two North Division wins this week. Tautges' performance helped the Raiders take sole possession of the top spot in the North Division.    

Ridgewater College forward Madison Norsten earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Norsten scored 34 points in 59 minutes of action, averaging 17 points per game and shooting 48% from the field. She also pulled down 13 rebounds, assisted on four baskets, and stole four balls to help the Warriors pick up two key South Division wins. Norsten is averaging 15.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season.

Minnesota State Community and Technical College power forward James Hamilton earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Hamilton scored 57 points, making 26 of 42 shots from the field, a 61.9% shooting percentage. He also secured 27 rebounds, had three assists, stole four balls, and blocked two shots. Hamilton's 78 minutes of court time were instrumental in helping the Spartans pick up another South Division win.       

There were no nominations this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
