MCAC Winter Sports Athletes of the Week: Week of February 9-15

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of February 9-15.

Northland Community and Technical College guard Josie Peterson earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Peterson scored 37 points, shooting 48% from the field and 50% from behind the three-point arc, to help the Pioneers win the MCAC North Division title. She scored an average of 18.5 points per game in two wins this week. In 61 minutes of court time, Peterson also secured eight rebounds, had eight assists, and stole four balls.     

Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range guard Tahje Johnson earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Johnson played 47 minutes through two games and scored 42 points, averaging 21 points per game. He hit 17 of his 27 shots for a 63% shooting percentage. Johnson also had 12 rebounds and two assists to help the Norse pick up another key North Division win.     

Minnesota West Community and Technical College forward Katrina Schutz earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 32 minutes of action, Schutz had a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in an important South Division win. She also had four assists, a steal, and a block. With the win, the Lady Jays claimed the South Division title and remained undefeated in division play.  

Ridgewater College forward DeAndre Holloway earned this week's MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Holloway scored 55 points in 59 minutes on the court, averaging 27.5 points per game. He connected on 20 of his 34 shots from the field and went 5 for 9 from three-point range. He also tallied 23 rebounds, three steals, one assist, and five blocks in the Warriors' two important South Division wins.      

There were no nominations this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
