The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 9-15.
Riley Jax, a right-handed pitcher for Riverland Community College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. In his one appearance, a start, Jax threw a three-hit gem, giving up no runs in the 5.0 innings. He struck out five batters and walked only two en route to the win.
Riverland Community College's third baseman, Peyton Ransom, earned this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor. Ransom was 12 for 21 at the plate, hitting .571 for the week. He had two doubles, three triples, and one home run. Ransom drove in nine runs and scored 12, while walking six times. He also stole three bases.
Matthew Bryant, right-handed pitcher for Alexandria Technical and Community College, earned this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. Over seven innings of work on the mound in his one start, Bryant gave up two earned runs and seven hits, while striking out eight batters and walking only one. He also hit .636 on the week with seven RBI and five walks.
Josh Kingery, center fielder for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, was named this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honoree. Kingery went 11 for 20 at the plate, hitting .555, with three home runs, one of which was a grand slam to give his team the lead over Erie Community College. He also had 13 RBI, scored six runs, and stole three bases.
Minnesota North College-Rainy River's right-handed pitcher, Damian Griffin, earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. In his one start and two appearances, Griffin went 1-0 and earned a save, pitching eight innings. He gave up only two hits, with no earned runs, and struck out 16 batters. Griffin had no walks and put together a weekly ERA of 0.00.
Kollin Bonneville, second baseman for Minnesota North College - Itasca, earned the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award. Going 13 for 27 at the plate, Bonneville hit .481 for the week. He hit two doubles and four home runs. Bonneville also had seven RBI and scored 12 runs, while walking six times. He stole four bases during the week as well.
